Empathy through the Lens of Conversational Agents: A Systematic Review examines how empathy is understood, designed, and evaluated in conversational AI research. Led by Supriya Khadka, the work was one of two full papers and a provocation paper shared by CHAI Lab at CUI 2026. Supriya is continuing her research journey as a PhD student at George Mason University’s DAS Lab.
