The question
Exploring how voice user interfaces can move beyond rigid metaphors toward more adaptive conversational experiences.
What we learned
Participants preferred different interaction metaphors across commands, information seeking, social conversation, and error recovery. A context-sensitive voice interface received more favorable adoption, enjoyment, and likeability ratings than a uniform assistant, while individual preferences showed the continuing need for personalization.
